Covered Air Vent

When my kids were forced to stay at home and continue learning from our house, it threw everything into chaos.

My husband and I were also told to start working from home, so all of us were juggling our own responsibilities while also trying to stay out of each other’s way.

Thankfully, our kids are older, so they don’t need to be hovered over for extended periods of time. In order to make things function better, we had to move a lot of furniture around. My kids had desks in their rooms and my husband and I each bought a desk for ourselves. There was one designated office, which my husband graciously allowed me to take. He built his desk in our living room. A few weeks into our new arrangement, we noticed our utility bill was higher than normal. Then, we started noticing that there were certain rooms in our house that weren’t cooling properly. At first, my husband and I assumed it was because we were all under one roof consistently and we were possibly throwing the entire HVAC system off kilter. One evening though, I could hear the AC unit starting and stopping over the sound of the TV. I also noticed that the living room was growing warm and warmer each day. Putting two and two together, I realized that my husband had built his desk over the air vent. All the air was getting trapped underneath and it was causing our AC system to break down. Once we moved the desk, our HVAC system began running normally again.
